"Technophoria" by Felicity Ingram
, Book Launch, Exhibition and ScreeningTechnophoria is more than a book; it’s an exploration of the human spirit, pulsating through the neon lights and thumping basslines of the global rave community. This work is born from my adolescence, a time when I found myself drawn to alternative and underground scenes; spaces where freedom, self-expression, and a deep sense of community reigned supreme.
In the swirling depths of the rave, I discovered a world unbound by the conventions of society, where people could lose themselves and, in doing so, find a truer version of their being — Technophoria reflects this journey. A celebration of the vibrant, chaotic energy that defines rave culture, a culture that transcends borders and unites people under a shared rhythm.
This project is fueled by my belief in the transformative power of music and the spaces it creates. Rave culture is a testament to the human need for connection and expression, where every beat, every flash of light, is a declaration of freedom. It's about shedding societal constraints and embracing a community that thrives on diversity, creativity, and the pure, unfiltered joy of being alive.
Technophoria is an ode to these moments of transcendence, where the collective energy of a crowd becomes something greater than the sum of its parts. My inspiration for this book lies in capturing the essence of those experiences — the sweat, the euphoria, the sense of belonging that can only be found in the heart of the rave.
Through this work, I aim to document not just a scene, but a movement. A movement that embodies the rebellious spirit of youth, the power of unity, and the enduring quest for freedom. This book is my contribution to the legacy of the rave, a chronicle of the nights that shaped me and countless others around the world.
