The photographic series SAND, created by Lukas Korschan, employs a micro-to-macro scale approach to illustrate the beauty of the Caribbean. 
The intricate complexity of individual sand grains captured under a microscope is paralleled by the precise reflection of Caribbean culture in the designs of BOTTER’s AW24 runway collection.

Derived from the shores of Curaçao, the place of origin of Rushemy Botter, each grain of sand becomes an artefact that reflects upon the diverse delicacy of nature, often undetectable by the naked eye.

The element of sand, magnified through a microscope, is abstracted in Lukas Korschan’s scientific use of photography, revealing complex crystallized structures that are categorized in a study of scale. With art direction by Atttd Studios, refined pairings of sand structures and detailed shots taken moments before the BOTTER AW24 runway show solidify the collaborative research into the intersection of fashion and nature.

The Caribbean’s biodiversity is reflected in the colourful array of grains, highlighting the importance of marine conservation, a cause deeply ingrained in BOTTER’s DNA, as ocean pollution results in a monochrome tonality of sand.
As the source of all life, BOTTER has been committed to the preservation of the region’s ocean since its early beginnings through the BOTTER Coral Nursery, which revives the marine ecosystem on the shores of Curaçao.
